Brave Hearts
by Harry S. Rintoul
Brave Hearts, nominated for the 1991 Dora Mavis Moore Award, is Harry S. Rintoul’s poignant and wry portrait of love and loneliness in a rural prairie town. Set against the land of living skies, two men (G.W. and Rafe) confined to the backyard at a fag party navigate the harsh realities of being gay in an isolated community during the height of the AIDS crisis. Blending humor with heartache, Brave Hearts confronts the tension between succumbing to solitude, and the courage to grasp at connection in the face of fear.
